Design & Build

One of the greatest joys in residential construction is allowing my clients to build their dream home. One of the most important pieces to any project is the design aspect. Since I was a “boy” sketching, drawing, and designing floor plans has been like an art. From designing simple room plans to a clients “once in a lifetime” house without thoughtful design constructing a home would not be possible.

When you decide to contact Hurdt Homes I will personally sit down and listen to your story, understand what is important to you, and how we can turn a dream into conception. During the first meeting it will be forming a relationship during the conversation. Understanding everything that is important to you is critical as it plays into the fictional design of the project. During the first meeting we ask that you consider 3 things; “must have items”, “would like to have items”, and “if we could have items.”

After our initial conversation we will work as team to start preliminary sketches and design ideas so that you can influence the implementation of your dream project. Once we have sketched out some designs I will combine them into 1 master design and countless hours drawing them into a master set of blueprints. When the blueprints are finally presented to you as the client it will have been tailored for your needs, wants, and desires. After we have a working set of drawings we can make final adjustments on what works best for you.

Now that we have agreed that the drawings are exactly what you would like we will move into the cosmetic design process. We will spend hours looking through books, magazines, websites, and product manuals to pick out every item that will go into the construction of your dream. This process is one of the most enjoyable experiences in construction, being able to make your home truly “yours.” Once we have agreed to all cosmetic items we will move into the vertical construction.
